The Queensland government has shelved its proposal to alter land tax for interstate property investors.
The proposal was heavily opposed by interstate leaders, the real estate sector and wealthy landlords.
As mentioned in our Tax Tip #39, the change would have meant that Queensland land holders will be subject to land tax calculated on the total value of Australian land which includes relevant interstate land but not excluded interstate land e.g. principal place of residence.
